Biffer

Hello from camp.  New this session we are going to get a number of perspectives from camp.  This is blog is from one of our wonderful staff members.  I hope you enjoy her blog.

Get your white t-shirts out cause it’s Biffer time!

One of Birch Trail’s most popular evening programs could not come soon enough. Campers sprint back to their cabins to change into their swimsuits and white t-shirts to be back in no time for biffer!

Campers ran around the air strip attempting to complete as many missions as possible to earn tally marks! The more tally marks a camper accumulates, the higher priority she gets in the shower line. Which after biffer, shower priority is a big deal.

Campers scramble around the airstrip attempting to avoid their friends throwing powdered sugar and whipped cream, or biffer as we call it, while attempting the mission stations around.

One of the most popular stations included counting to ten in another language, where we got to hear campers speaking Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, and even Greek! Some others were passing the ball back and forth 10 times without dropping it, and saying a phrase with three different accents!

Even though this program is fun all around, it’s also about friendship and respect. Yes, campers are trying to get their friends covered in biffer, but it’s also about looking out for how your friends are doing. It’s always fun to get your friends messy, but campers learn to check up on each other before doing so. They practice patience and empathy before deciding that it is the right time to continue playing or whether someone needs a break.

Biffer is a great fun way to continue to kick off the session; and it’s a very fun way to let the campers know that Birch Trail is a place where you can let loose, get messy and have fun. You never know how many new friends you can make with just a little whipped cream and powdered sugar in your hand.
